How does Silk Peel work?

Your skin consists of two main layers: the epidermis, which is the outer most layer, and the dermis, which is located under the epidermis. The topmost layer of the epidermis is called the Stratum Corneum which acts a barrier between the outside world and the lower skin layers.

Silk Peel takes place at the Stratum Corneum level. Using a minute diamond-studded tip to abrade the skin, the Silk Peel is able to remove the dead skin cells through vacuum suction. This procedure helps to gently exfoliate the skin, leaving the skin noticeably smoother and more receptive to moisturizers. The Silk Peel only penetrates a superficial layer of the skin (the Stratum Corneum) and therefore works best to improve conditions involving the surface of the skin. The treatment is a quick, non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that requires no anaesthetic and is pain free.

What can Silk Peel be used for?

Silk Peel treatment works best for improving conditions on the surface of the skin, such as shallow acne marks, early signs of photo-aging, fine lines, dull skin, brown spots, pigmentation and age spots.  The treatment works on all skin types and causes no skin scarring or colour change.

How often do I need a Silk Peel treatment for effective results?

Your skin takes an average of 30 days to regenerate. We therefore recommend that patients have a treatment at 2 to 4 week intervals.

What about post-care?

For best results, sunscreen must be used meticulously following Silk Peel. In addition we recommend:

–          NeoStrata Collagen Serum Booster for depressed acne scars.

–          Neoretin Gel Cream (mornings) and the Neoretin Serum Booster (evening) for pigment lightening.

–          NeoStrata Matrix Day Support (day) and NeoStrata Cellular Restore (night) for photo-aging.

–          The NeoStrata Skin Active range for the reduction of fine lines.
